Unfortunately, being good to yourself isn’t just sitting around watching movies and eating popcorn, although there’s certainly nothing wrong with doing just that every so often. Sometimes being good to yourself involves doing things that are not at all enjoyable. We all know what they are, but we don’t always get them done. It’s Not Selfish to Be Good to Yourself

Many of us put the needs of others before our own needs. We completely understand that feeling and in no way are suggesting that you should ignore everyone else and only focus on yourself. At the same time, you shouldn’t ignore yourself while focusing on everyone else. The analogy which best explains this issue is the announcement made during a commercial airline flight. The airline will advise you that in the event of a loss of oxygen, masks will drop down from the overhead console and that, if you are traveling with a small child, you should affix your own mask before doing so for the child. It’s a phrase we’re all hearing a lot more now and with good reason because all of us have to figure out a way to live our lives despite an ongoing global pandemic; we also need to support each other throughout this process. The Voice in Your Head

Sometimes the biggest obstacle to being good to yourself is the voice in your head. It’s always there, especially in those rare moments when we have some peace and quiet. It talks to us all the time, day after day. Even worse, its generally not reassuring. The critical thing to understand about the voice in your head is that its not you. It can’t be.
